Traffic Enforcement Unit

Comprised of a supervisor and patrol officer(s), the Traffic Unit is tasked with ensuring the safety of roadway users and pedestrians. The Traffic Unit identifies and evaluates unregistered, uninsured, stolen, or suspicious motor vehicles.   Officers utilize various equipment to collect accurate, quantifiable information when addressing hazards or complaints. To reinforce its effectiveness in 2022, the Traffic Unit was bolstered by support from other regional traffic units from within our compact to address complaints of speeding and roadway safety compliance.

South Central Connecticut Traffic Unit (SCCTU)

The SCCTU operates under a police mutual assistance compact in accordance with C.G.S. § 7-277a and is comprised of police officers from East Haven Police, North Haven Police, North Branford Police, Branford Police, Madison Police, and Guilford Police. East Haven Police currently has five (5) officers that are assigned and trained to investigate serious injury and/or fatal motor vehicle collisions.
